Home Renovation - The Beginning

We are tackling a major home renovation project on my husband's childhood home, a 1970's ranch. Luckily the side of the house with the living areas has been recently updates, so we are starting on the other side with the bedrooms at bathrooms for now. Let me just say, I did not plan on gutting this thing at the beginning. Then we learned there was asbestos in the drywall compound and popcorn ceiling and with the amout of work we were putting in it to, we were like might as well gut it. Let me just say, we I tackle a project, I tend to do the most. For example, why spend $100 on the cheap faucet that's more likely to break when we can spend $500 on the good one that will last with a good warranty. Does that make me crazy, yes sometimes, but I own it. So when we go to it, I didn't want to put all this money into a house that would still have asbestos walls in 30 years, so here we are with a half gutted house and way in over our heads. Luckily we know some amazing people that have worked in the construction industry for decades to help us figure out what to do. My husband handled the demo and that took WAY longer than we were expecting. It's also hard to find the time when we have full time jobs and a baby to take care of. Back in September, my husband honestly thought we would be moved by Christmas. Let me just say, the house is gutted at the moment and we would be sleeping on the couch in the storage room of a living room. Stay tuned for more updates as we begin to make progress!
